The Indiana Hoosiers grew into the best team in college football this season with Fernando Mendoza leading the way as the quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner.
But when Mendoza leaves for the NFL, where he'll be a top-10 draft pick, IU will need to find his QB replacement.
The answer may have just entered the transfer portal.
Brendan Sorsby plans to enter the portal, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
In his college career, Sorsby has thrown for 7,208 yards and 60 touchdowns while running for another 1,305 yards and 22 TDs.
Maybe most importantly for this point, Sorsby began his college career at Indiana.
He spent two years on campus with the Hoosiers before going to Cincinnati.
Of course, that means Sorsby was recruited by a staff that isn't at IU anymore. But he also clearly found the school intriguing.
Sorsby is from Denton, Texas, and will get ample interest from all over the transfer portal.
But all of a sudden Indiana, his first school, will be one of the biggest draws in the entire portal.
If Curt Cignetti decides to go after Sorsby, it could be a partnership with mutual interest.
It's at least worth considering for Indiana. Mendoza has been so special. And if the Hoosiers want to consider someone beyond the younger Mendoza brother, Alberto, then Sorsby might be their guy.
