The Indiana Hoosiers continue to be the talk of the college football universe with the postseason right around the corner.

But it appears they are already in search of their new quarterback should Fernando Mendoza opt to go to the NFL.

According to On3's Pete Nakos,  Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt already has a list of interested schools upon him entering the transfer portal next month. Those include the Hoosiers, Oregon Ducks, Miami Hurricanes and LSU Tigers.

Nakos wrote Monday that Leavitt could be a target as the Hoosiers are planning on pursuing a portal quarterback as they did with Mendoza when he opted to transfer from Cal-Berkley last winter.

Leavitt returning to the Big Ten wouldn't be much of a surprise, as he spent one season in East Lansing on a subpar Michigan State Spartans team before heading west.

Leavitt left East Lansing for one reason: a coaching change. Leavitt had initially ben set to play for Mel Tucker before Tucker was relieved of his duties. Once Jonathan Smith was hired, Leavitt opted to go elsewhere.

"I felt slighted by that," Leavitt told Spartans Illustrated in 2023. "Why would they like me now when they didn't like me before?"

Now, he may have a chance to go to a place where he is liked. After all, it'd be a worthy investment for an Indiana program keen on spending as much money as they can (Leavitt is reportedly worth $3.1 million in NIL value).

It's unclear whether Indiana will go this route with him. But if it was, it will have another quarterback used to winning at the highest level, and he will already be thrust into one of the best teams in college football, regardless of if Indiana wins the national championship or not.

At the end of the day, it could very well be a win for both sides come next year as Indiana will attempt to compete for yet another Big Ten championship again
