The Indiana Hoosiers are taking a much-needed rest break before playing in the Rose Bowl New Year's Day in the College Football Playoff as the No. 1 seed.

The architect of the Hoosiers turnaround is Curt Cignetti, who has secured back-to-back playoff berths with an undefeated record entering this year's postseason alongside a Big Ten title within the last week after beating Ohio State.

Nonetheless, though, Cignetti was awarded for his efforts again – and it's college football history.

"The first coach to win the Walter Camp National Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons," the Indiana Football account wrote on 'X' Wednesday.

That's a major accomplishment for a program that was essentially irrelevant before Cignetti's arrival.

"The most important thing to me was our mindset going into this game," Cignetti told Fox Sports in October after beating Oregon. "That we believed, expected, prepared to make it happen and could handle the ups and downs of the game without flinching, showing frustration or anxiety. And that was the only thing you don’t know [about your team] until you play the game. And we passed that test."

Now, the Hoosiers have a chance to continue to make their mark on college football with a dominant postseason run.

Only time will tell, though.
