Smart stated on Monday that Daniels has departed the team, mentioning he hadn't yet communicated with the player or his relatives.
"Have not had a chance to talk to him or his family, but obviously he will no longer be with us," Smart told reporters during a press conference Monday.
Daniels is charged with several felonies, including two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and two counts of evading law enforcement, along with 10 traffic misdemeanors like reckless driving, the report states. An official from UGA athletics assisted Daniels in surrendering to authorities.
