Lane Kiffin's cryptic anti-Florida message resurfaces amid rumors image

Lane Kiffin’s past words about the Florida Gators has resurfaced as rumors swirl around his future, adding yet another twist to a coaching carousel already operating at full throttle.

With Ole Miss pushing toward a possible College Football Playoff berth, LSU making a strong run at him and Florida chatter is running like crazy. Kiffin finds himself at the center of it all.

The Florida speculation has grown loudest, fueled by his past admiration for Steve Spurrier, but also reports Kiffin’s family was recently in Gainesville. But as Gators fans dream big, Ole Miss supporters have dug up one of Kiffin’s own social media posts from 2022. One cryptic jab that now reads differently given the circumstances.

Kiffin posted a picture of his dog playing fetch with UF alum ESPN's Laura Rutledge. “Dude… that’s my dog!!! Get back home… she’s a Gator and will try and convince you to leave,” Kiffin wrote at the time. “Grass isn’t always greener, son, sometimes it’s just green.”

Those comments have taken on new life as a report by Outkick's Trey Wallace circulated about a supposed Ole Miss “ultimatum” for Kiffin to decide his future by the Nov. 28 Egg Bowl. Kiffin denied the report Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show, calling it inaccurate and reiterating his happiness in Oxford.

“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said after Saturday’s win over Florida. “To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players.”

Kiffin will have take his own advice and remember the grass is brown flipped upside down.
