DJ Lagway was supposed to be the quarterback to bring Florida back to national relevance.

But aside from a few fleeting moments, the Gators didn't complete a turnaround with Lagway as their QB.

He's on his way out now, heading for the transfer portal, and because of his pedigree and physical traits, Lagway will be highly sought after.

There will also be questions about why he wasn't more consistent at Florida, though, so not every school in need of a quarterback will be after Lagway.

The Athletic's Manny Navarro has broken down his expectations for starting QBs in college football in 2026. He lists Lagway as landing at Baylor to start for the Bears.

The Bears do have a strong quarterback history, and they also have a family connection to Lagway.

"DJ’s father, Derek, was a running back at Baylor in the 1990s, and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital runs a system that would maximize Lagway’s dual-threat ability," Navarro writes.

Lagway likely wants to go somewhere that he can both win and also develop into a more promising NFL prospect.

At Baylor, he'd be able to do that.

Florida has to figure out its QB opening now, too, but the Gators know Lagway is gone, and the rest of college football is waiting to see where he lands.
