Florida stuns Arch Manning and No. 9 Texas behind sharp preformance from DJ Lagway image

DJ Lagway threw for a season-high 289 yards and two touchdowns, both to Dallas Wilson, as Florida stunned No. 9 Texas 29-21 on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Lagway looked sharper than he had in any of his previous four starts, guiding the Gators (2-3, 1-1 SEC) to their first win since the season opener. His chemistry with Wilson was the story of the day.

The Tampa native hauled in six passes for 111 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown brought The Swamp alive. Wilson shrugged off multiple Texas defenders and powered through contact at the goal line. It was one of Florida’s most memorable plays in years.

Arch Manning and the Longhorns (3-2, 0-1 SEC) struggled to find rhythm in a hostile environment. Manning threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted twice and sacked seven times. Florida’s defensive front controlled the line of scrimmage, consistently collapsing the pocket without relying on blitzes.

Texas mounted a final drive in the closing minute, aided by a Gators penalty, but Manning’s deep attempt fell incomplete, and consecutive sacks sealed the upset.

Florida’s victory may mark a turning point after weeks of offensive frustration. The Gators had scored just 33 combined points during their losing streak but looked rejuvenated following an off week.

Texas faces questions about its offensive line and consistency after another sluggish outing. The Longhorns, preseason favorites to contend for the College Football Playoff, are expected to fall out of the AP Top 10.

Texas meets No. 5 Oklahoma in Dallas for the Red River Shootout. Florida visits No. 6 Texas A&M.
