Ahead of Colorado’s kickoff at West Virginia, athletic director Rick George made his stance crystal clear. In a post to the X app, George wrote: “I support Coach Prime 100%.”

The public declaration on social media came just days after George appeared on the Colorado Coaches Show. He addressed the Buffaloes’ recent struggles and offered an unambiguous vote of confidence in his head coach.

“Yeah, the last two games were awful. We all agree with that,” George said to co-host Mark Johnson. “But let’s put our arms around this team right now. This is when they need the fan base the most.”

George said he’s remained in close contact with Sanders throughout the rough patch. “I’ve had a lot of discussions with Coach, and you know, we know what we need to do to fix it,” he said. “We’ll keep moving forward.”

He also explained why he’s been spending more time on the sideline. “I want to be around football more…when you hear all this chatter on social media, which can be awful at times, I think me being down there is just to show them that they’ve got my support and we’re going to do everything we can to help them get through this…I’m proud of Deion Sanders…It’s been a tough year for him, what he’s been through. He’s been a trooper. He’s working hard and motivating and doing the things that I want him to do as coach. We just got to win more football games…Sometimes you just don’t live up to expectations. The last thing you want to do is run away from it. You want to address it and fix it and we will.”

Earlier today, Colorado fell 29-22 to West Virginia, dropping to 3–7. But George’s message left no doubt, he’s standing firmly behind Deion Sanders as the Buffaloes fight through the season’s final stretch.
