Charlotte defensive lineman Yamil Talib, the nephew of former Super Bowl champion and five-time NFL Pro Bowler Aqib Talib, has committed to play for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, he announced Saturday evening on social media.
Talib arrives in Boulder after a breakout season at Charlotte, where he emerged as one of the program’s most productive defensive linemen in 2025. The 6-foot-3 defender recorded 37 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, while also adding an interception, a forced fumble and two passes defended.
Before transferring to Charlotte, Talib spent a year at Oklahoma State Cowboys, where he joined the program as a walk-on. His development since then has drawn attention as Colorado continues to reshape its roster through the transfer portal under Sanders.
Talib’s commitment also brings a notable football lineage to Boulder. His uncle, Aqib Talib, starred for the Denver Broncos and was a key piece of the franchise’s dominant “No Fly Zone” defense, earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his four seasons with Denver and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2016.
