Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter suffers major blow during rookie season image

Jacksonville Jaguars two-way star Travis Hunter will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury on Thursday, coach Liam Coen told reporters.

Hunter suffered a non-contact injury and that the Jaguars were "still assessing" whether he will be able to play again this season, according to Coen. This is a major blow for last year's Heisman Trophy winner and his goals during his rookie season. "A minor setback for a major comeback," Coen added.

Hunter will miss the next four games, if not more with a to be determined status. He's coming off the best game of his young career with eight receptions for 104 yards and his first NFL touchdown during a 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London.

"We're currently assessing the injury just to determine the best course of action moving forward for Travis and for the team," Coen said. In good spirits right now."

The Jaguars had been planning to use Hunter as their top receiver this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. Hunter has played a combined 486 snaps this season, with a majority on offense. A stark difference after playing nearly all snaps on both sides of the ball at Colorado last year.

Hunter became one of the most honored players in college football history. The consensus national player of the year won the Heisman, Walter Camp Award and both the AP and AllSportsPeople Player of the Year honors. He was also repeated as the Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player) while winning the Bednarik Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy as national defensive player of the year and the Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver regardless of position.
