Former Colorado star Travis Hunter shines on both sides as Jaguars edge Houston image

Travis Hunter walked off the field with the same swagger he carried at Colorado, only this time the stage was the NFL. The Jaguars beat Houston 17 to 10 and Hunter never left the spotlight.

He played 80 snaps according to Pro Football Focus. Thirty-seven on offense. Forty-three on defense. The numbers are staggering, but for Hunter, it was business as usual. “They called my number, they gave me the ball, and I did what I always do, my job,” Hunter said after hauling in a 21-yard reception.

On defense, he matched the production of Jacksonville’s best. Six tackles. Four solo. Another step in showing the league he can handle the grind. He explained the mindset that carried him through: “We don’t talk about what happened in the past. We just stay present right now.”

Asked about the significance of watching teammate Brian Thomas Jr. overcome struggles, Hunter pointed to the example it sets. “It’s just a confidence booster for all of the guys in the room. We see him as a leader. He a thousand yard receiver. We expected him to be on top of his game every game. And just to see him bounce back and block out all the noise and just go do his job and do what he’s supposed to do. It means a lot to the younger guys.”

The Jaguars leaned on Tyson Campbell and Foyesade Oluokun to anchor the defense, and Travis Etienne scored once on the ground. But no one matched the all-around presence of Hunter, the rookie who continues to prove he is as much an NFL star as he was in Boulder.
