Deion Sanders already knew that one of his Colorado Buffaloes QBs, Ryan Staub, was in the transfer portal.

Now he knows that Staub is heading to the SEC.

Staub's commitment to Tennessee was reported by On3 Sports on Sunday afternoon.

Staub likely isn't going to the Volunteers to be a starter, though.

He has attempt 99 passes in his three-season college career. He's 53-for-99 for 681 yards, four TDs and four INTs. Staub also has a collegiate rushing touchdown.

Staub got his most playing time in 2025 as the Buffaloes tried to figure out how to replace Shedeur Sanders. They also had Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis get a lot of action, too.

Out of high school in Stevenson Ranch, California, Staub was a three-star recruit. He was ranked the No. 39 QB in his recruiting class of 2023.

The Vols are still waiting to hear what happens with Joey Aguilar.

The star QB came to town after originally heading to UCLA from Appalachian State, but then essentially flipping places to Knoxville when Nico Iamaleava went to the Bruins.

Aguilar is technically out of eligibility, but he's seeking another year through a lawsuit that has yet to reach a final verdict.

But if Aguilar can't come back, Staub would have a better chance of winning a potential starting job.
