Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders got the biggest win of the post-Shedeur/Travis Hunter era in Boulder this past Saturday when CU downed the Iowa State Cyclones at Folsom Field in one of Week 7’s big upsets.
His program also got hit with a fine because fans fled the stands to celebrate the 24-17 win over ISU. To cover the costs from the Big 12’s infraction, Coach Prime made a sensible plea to Buffs fans:
Pay a small amount to cover the cost.
“C’mon man. That ain’t right. I mean, these kids, well, we have 50,000 (fans at the game), right? We can chip in. Let’s chip in. That's how it was when I grew up. You know, we going somewhere, everybody, before you get in the car with some gas, you gotta chip in,” Sanders said, per USA Today.
Sanders was in good spirits, offering a boisterous but largely lighthearted objection to the fine for fans rushing the field that costs $50,000. He was happier about the win than the fine that comes with it.
“It was very important. It's kind of vital. I mean, your season could go this way or that way, and the most frustrating part about it is that we're good. And I know this sounds crazy, especially when you say the record aloud, but we're good. We haven't really gotten our butts kicked,” Sanders said.
Limiting Rocco Becht to 205 passing yards and an interception, with no touchdown passes and 31 yards on the ground, was a major win for Robert Livingston’s defense. Kaidon Salter’s dynamic 312 all-purpose-yard outing on the other side of the ball, coupled with Joseph Williams continuing to be a top target, shows that Pat Shurmur’s offense is coming along just fine with the 2025 roster.
CU is now 3-4 and is keeping its bowl game hopes alive with the Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats, West Virginia Mountaineers, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Kansas State Wildcats.
