Coach Prime couldn’t help but laugh when he heard it.

Following Colorado’s emotional win over Iowa State, the Buffaloes’ sellout crowd poured onto the Folsom Field playing surface in celebration.

Afterward, in the media room, Coach Prime was asked about what was inevitable next, namely a fine from the Big 12.

“Is it a fine for rushing the field? What is it? 50. 50 what? For rushing the field?” Deion Sanders asked. “How is it $50,000 rushing the field? Who made that a rule? Come on, man. That ain’t right.”

Then came the punchline which was signature Prime.

“We had $50,000 right there. We can chip in,” he grinned. “It’s how it was when I grew up. Before you get in the car, some gas, you've got to chip in. Just chip in.”

He made sure to keep it light, praising the passion that caused it in the first place. “I love it,” he said. “I want to see the kids rush the field. I absolutely love it…Hats off to our security team. They do a good job ushering me in, but I love to see it.”

Coach Prime has been expressing for weeks that this team possesses greater potential than what they have demonstrated on game day. Following a concerning few days that involved a significant surgery for Sanders, the week concluded on Saturday with joy and a renewed faith that the Buffs can achieve so much more.
