Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Julian Lewis is set to start on Saturday at West Virginia, according to CBS Sports. The former five-star will be the third quarterback to start for Deion Sanders' team.

Lewis played all but one series in the second half of Colorado’s 52-17 blowout loss to Arizona last Saturday. He finished going 9-of-17 for 121 yards and threw his first career touchdown.

The Carrollton, Georgia product signed with Colorado after flipping from USC. He reclassified from the 2026 class and will be one of a few 18-year-old talents to start under center across the country this year.

The Buffs need a serious boost after being outscored 105-24 in the last two games, falling to 3-6 and needing to win out to secure a postseason bid. However, two of the final three games will come on the road, with the home finale against Big 12 champs Arizona State.

After Saturday night’s game, Sanders was asked about Lewis' taking over at quarterback. But there is a crossroads for the phenom's future at stake. Two more games and he'll give up his redshirt.

“I’m not going to mandate you gotta play," Sanders said. "No, whatever’s best for these young men’s careers, I’m for that.”

Colorado hits the road to West Virginia on Saturday (Noon ET, TNT).
