Alabama remains the preeminent NFL factory

In recent years, Alabama has slipped a little from being the preeminent program in college football. They're not nearly as dominant as they once were, and other programs have really risen the ranks. It's much more wide open than it was in the heyday of the Crimson Tide.

The transfer portal and NIL has totally changed the landscape. The best players go almost anywhere, and sometimes they don't even stay. For example, Caleb Downs, arguably the best defensive player in college football, was at Alabama before transferring to Ohio State.

But despite all the changes, there is no better school at producing NFL talent than Alabama. That used to be the case, as for the most part, players who were good at Alabama ended up being good in the NFL. Despite other programs rising in the last few years, the NFL still needs Alabama most of all.

After NFL teams made their cuts down to 53-man rosters on Tuesday, the college with the most players on said rosters was Alabama. They had 63 players make the final 53 for their respective teams. It's a small edge, but it's an edge nonetheless.

Other notable schools include Georgia (61), Ohio State (59), LSU (46), Oregon (37), Iowa (31), Auburn (25), UNC (19), BYU (16), Colorado (12), and Memphis (9). Except for Georgia, none of them even came close to Alabama.
