Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson remains undecided about his future following the Crimson Tide’s season-ending loss to Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl.
Simpson is continuing to evaluate his options with his family and advisors, according to his agent, Peter Webb of QB Reps, who spoke with On3 this week. The junior has remaining eligibility and could return to college football in 2026, but he is also viewed as one of the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL draft.
“No decisions have been made about Ty declaring for the draft at this point, and he is still evaluating everything with his family and close advisors,” Webb told On3.
Simpson is ranked as the No. 3 quarterback on Mel Kiper’s latest big board, trailing only Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Oregon’s Dante Moore. He could also return to Alabama for anothet year or test the market in the transfer portal. If he did end up doing the latter, the Tide QB would be highly sought after and skyrocket to the top avaliable signal-caller in the portal.
In his first season as Alabama’s full-time starter, Simpson threw for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions, leading the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 10-2 record and a CFP berth. He also rushed for two touchdowns and guided Alabama to a first-round playoff win over Oklahoma.
Simpson suffered a cracked rib in the first half of the Tide’s loss to the Indiana Hoosiers, an injury he said occurred after taking a helmet to the ribs while scrambling.
While he has made no plans for 2026, Simpson definitely has options to fall back on.
