UConn basketball is going to the extreme to end a losing streak. Let's just say its crossing over into the paranormal, and Dan Hurley couldn’t be more entertained.
Before Tuesday night’s showdown at Seton Hall, reports surfaced that a UConn fan running a popular X account had hired an Etsy witch to “remove the curse” at Prudential Center, where the Huskies had lost four straight games since 2021.
No. 3 UConn escaped Newark with a 69-64 win over the 25th-ranked Seton Hall Pirates. So did it work?
Hurley’s reaction was pure, unfiltered theater. “What the f---? What was that?” He said afterward, before embracing the absurdity. “I would say UConn fans are a different animal.”

Never one to shy away from chaos, the two-time national championship-winning coach joking that if fans are summoning witches, he’s ready to counter with his own supernatural arsenal. “I spray holy water all over the court. I sage my court. I throw garlic under the bleachers,” Hurley said, laughing at himself. “I’m a f---ing cartoon character.”
Fans loved it. Hurley’s raw honesty and self-aware humor only added to his legend and to UConn’s profile. Apparently this can now be part of the pregame ritual.
