Last season, the Phoenix Suns had a very disappointing year. Despite having three star players—Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant—the team failed to even make the play-in tournament. At times, tensions ran high, with Durant even being caught on camera in heated moments with then-head coach Mike Budenholzer.
Things hit a low point in Phoenix, leading to speculation that Durant wanted out. After being traded from Brooklyn to Phoenix, Durant now reportedly wants to be moved again. With his career winding down, he's looking to join a team that’s ready to compete for a championship now. Both Durant and the Suns are working together to find a suitable trade.
“The Phoenix Suns and Kevin Durant's business partner, Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman, have met multiple times over the past week and are sifting through trade scenarios, sources told ESPN on Wednesday,” ESPN’s Shams Charania said.
Currently, three teams appear to be in serious trade discussions with the Suns.
“There's been some negotiations, but really in the last 24-48 hours I'm told the focus of the Suns conversation has been on a few of the teams and here they are: the Houston Rockets, the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Charania reported.
A potential trade with the Rockets would involve sending Durant to Houston in exchange for some of their top young talent.

“Suns receive: Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., 2025 First-Round Pick (10th). Rockets receive: Kevin Durant, 2025 First-Round Pick (29th),” Bright Side of the Sun’s John Voita wrote.
Durant would be a valuable addition to the young Rockets squad, serving as a veteran leader with multiple NBA Finals appearances. The Rockets finished second in the Western Conference before being eliminated in the first round, and with Durant on the roster—if a deal goes through—they'll no doubt be hungry to make a deeper playoff run.
