Who won Most Outstanding Player in 2023? UConn standout claims prestigious March Madness award image

Adama Sonogo joined an exclusive list Monday, earning Most Outstanding Player honors after capturing the national championship with UConn.

His 17-point, 10-rebound showing capped off what had been an impressive tournament for the Huskies. In six games, Sonogo averaged 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 blocks, spearheading the Huskies run to the title game.

He saved his best for last, though, slicing through San Diego State's defense routinely while proving a formidable threat on the boards. In all, it was a standout display by Sanogo, who now sits in company with some of the greatest players in the game's history, including Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Here's how he did it:

Sanogo was about as well rounded as it got, and that didn't change in the championship game.

The standout forward had a double-double in all but two of UConn's six tournament games, including the national championship, when he scored 17 points and brought down 10 rebounds in the title game.

And when Sanogo had the ball in his hands, he was making plays. He shot 75.8 percent from the field throughout the tournament.
