  • This is Buzz Williams' first five-star recruit in nearly ten years.

Maryland secured a significant commitment during the early signing period on Wednesday, with top-10 prospect Babatunde Oladotun declaring his intention to join the Terrapins. This marks Buzz Williams' first five-star recruit in almost ten years.

Maryland secured Oladotun, a 6-foot-10 forward from James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, choosing them over Georgetown and Arkansas following a recruitment period marked by several late developments. He represents the program's initial five-star commitment since Derik Queen in 2024 and marks Williams' first such recruit since Nickeil Alexander-Walker at Virginia Tech in 2017.

“My relationship with Buzz Williams and the staff was great,” Oladotun told ESPN. “Coach Buzz is a realist. He’s going to push you hard, break you down and build you up. He has developed players like Jimmy Butler and Jae Crowder.”

A former No. 1 prospect in the 2027 class before reclassifying, Oladotun is ranked No. 8 overall in the SC Next 100 and is considered the nation’s No. 3 power forward. He averaged 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit and flashed high-end shot-making and defensive versatility.

“Staying home just hits different,” Oladotun added.

Maryland now holds the No. 19 class nationally, pairing Oladotun with fellow SC Next 100 guard Kaden House and four-star forwards Austin Brown and Adama Tambedou.
