The BYU Cougars resume their campaign at No. 10 in the AP Top 25 after improving to 7-1. Kevin Young's team has shown versatility in many ways. One of the best additions is also reaching new heights.
Freshman guard AJ Dybantsa has scored 15 or more points in every game this season, tying a freshman scoring streak with Duke's Cameron Boozer and drawing comparisons to past greats.
The 6-foot-8 wing also ties his mentor, Kevin Durant, for the longest streak to start a career. Oklahoma's Trae Young still holds the lead in Big 12 history with 26, according to ESPN.
The biggest storyline this year is the phenomenal freshman class led by Boozer and Dybantsa. If everything stays true this season, the 2026 NBA Draft class will rival the one from 2003 with LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh in the top picks.
If Dybantsa keeps producing and the Cougars maintain momentum, BYU may be more than just a mid-major surprise.
Up next for the Cougars is a high-profile matchup on Tuesday with the Clemson Tigers at the Jimmy V Classic in New York City (6:30 p.m. ET, ESPN available on Fubo)
