Ex-Kentucky star rips team after ugly loss to Gonzaga: 'This is hard to watch' image

Former Kentucky Wildcats star DeMarcus Cousins aired out his frustration pafter No. 18 Kentucky’s 94-59 blowout loss to No. 11 Gonzaga on Friday night, calling the Wildcats’ effort “hard to watch” as the program dropped its third game in five outings.

“Can’t lie… this UK team has no heart! This is hard to watch,” Cousins posted on social media.

This came after Kentucky opened the game 0-for-10 from the field and 0-for-7 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats finished just 16-of-60 shooting overall and were booed off the court at halftime in Nashville.

Coach Mark Pope accepted the criticism, saying he deserved the blame for the team’s offensive collapse.

“As a former player, I’m pissed at the coach, too, and that’s all deserved,” Pope said. “There’s nothing inappropriate about what he said.”

Kentucky trailed 43-20 at halftime and was outscored 46-18 in the paint while struggling again from deep after a 1-for-13 performance in Tuesday’s loss to North Carolina. Pope acknowledged the program is in a “bad spot” and must “dig out of it.”
