Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self was taken to a hospital Monday after feeling “under the weather” and did not travel with the team for Tuesday night’s game at Colorado.
Kansas said in a statement that Self was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he received IV fluids, and is feeling better. No additional details were provided.
It remains unclear whether Self will rejoin the team in time for the matchup in Boulder. Tipoff at the CU Events Center is scheduled for 9 p.m. Local time, leaving a window for travel if he is cleared.
If Self is unable to coach, associate head coach Jeremy Case is expected to lead the Jayhawks.

Self, 63, is in his 23rd season at Kansas Jayhawks and is among the winningest coaches in men’s college basketball history. He has led Kansas to two national championships and to the NCAA Tournament every time it has been held during his tenure. Self owns a 637-161 record at Kansas and 844 career wins overall, ranking him 12th on the NCAA’s all-time list.
Self has previously dealt with health issues, most notably in 2023 when he missed the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments after undergoing a heart catheterization and having two stents placed.
No. 19 Kansas (13-5) enters Tuesday’s game coming off wins over then-No. 2 Iowa State and Baylor. Colorado (12-6) has dropped three straight.
