Darryn Peterson is the truth.
That was the takeaway from everyone watching the Kansas Jayhawks play their exhibition game Friday night against the Louisville Cardinals.
The freshman went absolutely bonkers, and sure, it was just an exhibition. But it was against another historic program, and Peterson clearly looked like the best player on the floor.
Peterson's final stats on the night were eye catching by themselves:
- 26 points
- 9-15 FG
- 6-10 3FG
- 2-5 FT
- 4 rebounds
- 2 assists
- 5 steals

College basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla hopped on X to compare Peterson to Kevin Durant and say he's already getting national player of the year vibes.
The talented frosh from Canton, Ohio has a long way to go. But he's one of three favorites to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, along with Cameron Boozer (Duke) and A.J. Dybantsa (BYU). And if Peterson keeps playing like this, the hype won't die down.
