The Iowa State men's basketball team heads into the 2025-26 season with high aspirations following a disappointing conclusion to this past year.
While key players such as Curtis Jones and Keshon Gilbert have left, TJ Otzelberger and his staff signed several important players through the transfer portal. One of those, though, will not see the floor this coming year.
Mason Williams, who joined the Cyclones following two seasons at Eastern Washington, recently underwent hip surgery. The surgery was the result of a preexisting injury for Williams.
A 6-foot-5 guard out of Seattle, Williams missed five games last year for the Eagles with an injury. When he was on the court, he posted almost 14 points with 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, finishing ninth in the Big Sky Conference in scoring and second in free throw percentage.
Through 44 career games, Williams has averaged 10 points, over two rebounds and nearly two assists a game.
