The NBA Draft in June is all set, and the lottery has brought a major shock: Dallas has jumped up to secure the first overall pick. Now, all that remains is for players to decide whether they'll return to college or pursue their NBA dreams. One thing is certain—Cooper Flagg will be the No. 1 overall pick.
Flagg came incredibly close to becoming a Chicago Bull, but fate was determined by a coin toss. The Bulls remained at No. 12 in the draft, while the Mavericks vaulted to the top spot.
“Since Chicago and Dallas had the same record, the coin flip determined who would have the 11th spot and who would have the 12th spot. Chicago lost the toss and had the 12th spot. They ended up staying at 12 after the lottery, while Dallas, who got the 11th best odds, jumped all the way to No. 1,” nbaonespn posted.
Flagg declared for the draft right at the deadline. While he is widely expected to be the first pick, there's a scenario where he could land in Milwaukee.
That is the craziest set of circumstances... You know they've wanted Giannis in Dallas for years. They signed his brother a few years ago. Just wanted to point that out,” Brian Windhorst said.
In a video segment featuring players going through the draft process, Flagg was asked who he believes is the best player in the NBA. He didn’t hesitate.

“Joker. I mean he just does so much, like he impacts winning in so many different ways,” Flagg said.
Flagg was referring to the Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, a three-time MVP and NBA Champion. Like Jokic, Flagg has the potential to impact the game in numerous ways. Both are winners and fierce competitors. While Jokic is already one of the faces of the NBA, it may only be a matter of time before Flagg joins him.
