NBA analyst teases blockbuster trade that could send Duke's Cooper Flagg to a new destination image

The Dallas Mavericks were the winners of the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, securing the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. Dallas already boasts one of the tallest lineups in all of basketball, and with the addition of Flagg, the team is only getting bigger.

What’s wild is that the Mavericks could have ended up with the No. 12 pick if they had lost a coin toss to the Chicago Bulls, who finished with the same regular-season record.

“Since Chicago and Dallas had the same record, the coin flip determined who would have the 11th spot and who would have the 12th spot. Chicago lost the toss and had the 12th spot. They ended up staying at 12 after the lottery, while Dallas, who got the 11th best odds, jumped all the way to No. 1,” nbaonespn posted.

The basketball world was stunned to see Flagg land in the lap of the Mavericks, joining one of the league’s top big men in Anthony Davis. On top of that, Flagg will eventually be surrounded by Kyrie Irving—once healthy—and Klay Thompson. However, all of that could change if NBA analyst Brian Windhorst’s blockbuster trade idea comes to life.

“That is the craziest set of circumstances... You know they've wanted Giannis in Dallas for years. They signed his brother a few years ago. Just wanted to point that out,” Windhorst said.

Windhorst’s comments come amid growing uncertainty around Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks. The former NBA champion may finally be eyeing a future beyond Milwaukee.

“Antetokounmpo is reportedly open to exploring other teams outside the Bucks for the first time in his career, according to ESPN's Shams Charania,” Chris Cwik wrote.

The Mavericks are in a position of power, but if this trade were to happen, it would shake up the entire league. Pairing Davis with Antetokounmpo could form arguably the greatest frontcourt of all time. Time will tell, but Flagg could spend his first few years in Milwaukee.
