Duke Blue Devils freshman sensation Cooper Flagg is essentially locked in as the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.
So, barring a shocking trade, the Dallas Mavericks will select Flagg as they make him the new face of the franchise. Flagg would join a squad with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving and a team just one year removed from the NBA Finals.
There are a lot of expectations for Flagg, but so far he has delivered every step of the way.
Flagg's future teammate and former Duke star, Kyrie Irving, had a strong endorsement of Flagg, per the NBA Future Starts Now.
"We definitely are connected. He's a Duke Blue Devil and I know he can deal with the pressure and I'm looking forward to seeing a great season, not only from him but a lot of the other young players that are here nationally and also internationally."
Irving spent one season at Duke before being selected first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Now, the Duke stars will team up in Dallas, although Irving is working his way back from an injury and isn't expected to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season.
Still, it should be exciting to see Flagg in Dallas, even more after they traded away Luka Doncic in February in a stunning turn of events.
