The Washington Wizards made a roster move on Thursday that’ll likely fly under the radar.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Wizards signed a 6-foot-10 former New York Knicks center and G-League champion.

“The Washington Wizards are signing center Skal Labissiere to a 10-day contract out of their Capital City affiliate,” Charania wrote on X/Twitter. “Labissiere enters a sixth NBA season after being a first-round pick in 2016. He has shot 55% from the field and 44% from three in the G League.”

Labissiere was a typical one-and-done NBA prospect with Kentucky. The Port-au-Prince, Haiti native spent the 2015-16 college basketball season with the Wildcats before declaring for the NBA Draft.

Labissiere was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 28 overall pick, and spent the first 2.5 years with the Western Conference before getting traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Midway through the 2019-20 campaign, Labissiere was traded again, this time to the Atlanta Hawks

Once the season concluded, the 29-year-old signed with the Knicks but was waived shortly after. Since then, Labissiere has competed with the Westchester Knicks (New York's G League affiliate), Cangrejeros de Santurce, Mexico City Capitanes, the Kings, and their G League affiliate (Stockton Kings), and the Capital City Go-Go.

Although Labissiere’s NBA career has been far from smooth thus far, his experience could make him a solid veteran addition to the lowly 11-34 Wizards.
