Soon, the Washington Wizards could make another roster move after trading for Trae Young.
On Wednesday night, it was reported that the package for Young was a two-for-one deal. The Wizards dealt CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. Barring any changes, they’ll have an open roster spot open.
What will they do with it? NBA writer Keith Smith recently predicted that the Wizards could offer one of their two-way guys a promotion.
Via @KeithSmithNBA: Everything is fluid this time of year, but the Wizards also created a roster spot in trade with the Hawks.
Good chance that will eventually go to Tristan Vukcevic to get him signed from his two-way deal. Washington still has all of the Non-Taxpayer MLE to give Vukcevic a multi-year deal.

It’s certainly not uncommon for NBA teams to offer standard deals to their two-way players. Being a rebuilding team, the Wizards would be wise to reward any of their developmental prospects if they see a fit on the main roster.
Vukcevic is a 22-year-old front court player, who was drafted by the Wizards in 2023. Coming out of Real Madrid, Vukcevic was the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. He made 45 appearances with the Wizards since 2023.
Leading up to this season, Vukcevic has averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds. This year, he has made 26 appearances, and picked up two starts. The young veteran has averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds when playing with the main roster.
The Wizards could have several options on the table, and will have time to weigh their options, but it seems they might be on pace to eye an internal upgrade.
