This seems like it should be impossible.

When Cody Williams was on the floor for the Utah Jazz on Saturday against the Charlotte Hornets, the Jazz were outscored by 60 points.

That's right. Williams had a plus-minus of negative-60.

It's the worst mark in NBA history for a single game.

Williams played 32 minutes in the 150-95 loss. So in the 16 minutes Williams was off the floor, the Jazz were a plus-5.

He shot 5-for-9 from the field and scored 15 points, so it's not like everything Williams did was bad. But the Hornets absolutely ran the Jazz out of the building.

This isn't the kind of record a player aspires to have.

Williams was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Colorado.

He was viewed in an even better light thanks in part to his brother, Jalen Williams, developing so quickly into a star for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It's looking like that kind of trajectory may not happen for Cody. Instead, he's got this ignominious mark next to his name for the rest of his career.

If he does it right, he can try to set a positive kind of record at some point during what he hopes is a long and fruitful NBA career.

For now, Williams will be the guy who had a minus-60 in a single night at the office.
