Raptors sign former top-5 recruit, No. 6 pick who's 7-feet tall image

The Toronto Raptors have signed an intriguing new guy to a contract.

He's 7 feet tall, and he was a top-five high school recruit, and he was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

In other words: Mo Bamba is now a player for the Toronto Raptors.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported this on Sunday:

"Mo Bamba has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Toronto Raptors, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports and Greer Love tell ESPN. Bamba averaged 16.5 points and 12 rebounds in G League Salt Lake City and now brings needed size to Raptors frontcourt for his eighth NBA season."

Bamba has never totally lived up to the hype, but he's got a fascinating skillset.

In his career, he has averaged 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Bamba also shoots 35.6% from 3-point range in his career.

He has played for the Orlando Magic (who drafted him), the Los Angeles Lakers, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Bamba is somehow still just 27 years old.

The native of Harlem in New York City will help Toronto in the frontcourt, a spot that has been quite injured this season.

There are worse guys to give a shot than a player like Mo Bamba.
