There have been many essential star players who have worn a Toronto Raptors jersey within the franchise. Vince Carter was known for his otherworldly athletic abilities, often putting on a show with his dunking highlight reels. Chris Bosh first established himself as a potential power forward superstar before he set sail to join LeBron James and Dwayne Wade with the Miami Heat

Tracy McGrady also played with the franchise before joining the Orlando Magic, turning him into one of the league’s most prolific scorers in history. There’s one player, however, who is highly regarded as the best Raptors player in franchise history.

Kyle Lowry looks to sign a one-day contract

Kyle Lowry is mainly known for his contributions to the Raptors during his nine-season tenure with the team. He made the NBA all-star selection six times, including the 2015-16 season, where he led the team to a franchise record of 56 wins.

He formed a formidable backcourt with DeMar DeRozan, who was also an All-NBA talent during his stint with the Raptors. Most importantly, he helped Kawhi Leonard lead the team to their first and only NBA championship in 2019.

Now, Kyle Lowry has announced his plans to retire after this season. However, he has special arrangements to retire with the team he’s made the most contribution and memories with, the Toronto Raptors. He plans on signing a one-day contract with the franchise that will end his impressive career as a Raptor.

This has also ignited speculations on the team retiring his jersey number alongside Vince Carter. Either way, this will be an amazing gesture for arguably the greatest Raptor player of all-time.
