The San Antonio Spurs will be without a key contributor when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.

The organization’s do-it-all 7-foot-5 superstar Victor Wembanyama is set to miss his 7th consecutive contest due to a lower-body setback suffered in mid-November, lowering San Antonio’s win probability with each game sidelined.

Why Victor Wembanyama isn’t playing for Spurs tonight vs. The Timberwolves with injury news.

Wembanyama was remarkable during the Spurs’ Nov. 14 contest against the Golden State Warriors on No. 14, recording 26 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block in the organization’s narrow 109-108 NBA Cup loss.

However, following the contest, it was brought to the 21-year-old's attention that he had suffered an unfortunate injury that would keep him on San Antonio’s bench for several games.

“Spurs star center Victor Wembanyama will be sidelined for a few weeks due to a left calf strain,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Nov. 17.

“The Spurs are erring on the side of caution in bringing back the franchise cornerstone, who underwent an MRI on Sunday. A source told ESPN that Wembanyama will be reevaluated in two to three weeks.”

Losing a top-10 NBA player for more than one game is never ideal. Wembanyama is the center of attention in San Antonio’s offense, making it difficult to adjust to life without him.

Still, with De’Aaron Fox finally back in the Spurs’ lineup and Devin Vassell elevating his play lately, the 13-5 Western Conference franchise should be able to survive for the time being.
