The San Antonio Spurs continue to luck out with getting the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft with Victor Wembanyama. He is one of the most impressive players in recent history, as he combines unreal size at 7'5" with a unique skill set.
Wembanyama is the primary reason behind the Spurs' place as the second seed of an ultra-competitive Western Conference. He has become a true superstar, which has led to his peers also celebrating his skill set.
Tatum is pleased to see Wembanyama's development
As a fellow superstar, Jayson Tatum has cemented himself as one of the best players in the league over the past few years. This season, he has become a bit forgotten because he is out with an Achilles injury.
The Boston Celtics have done well without him, mainly because of Jaylen Brown's ascent into superstardom. Due to Tatum sitting on the sidelines for a long time, he has watched the rest of the league more, which includes Wembanyama.

Tatum is a big fan of good basketball, so since he is not playing, he can watch more. Wembanyama is the player who has continued to impress the Celtics superstar. That is huge praise, as a healthy Tatum is a top-five player.
"Watching him on a nightly basis when I can, and seeing him in person, is just ridiculous. I don’t even know how else to express it. His body is still maturing, and he's still figuring himself out. The things he’s able to do, we’ve never seen that," Tatum said on the Pivot Podcast.
Since Tatum has given him that praise, that is most likely the consensus opinion among the superstars. They know that Wembanyama is already a top player, but he can still get even better.
That is scary for the rest of the league, and the competitors like Tatum will be motivated to take him down. The NBA has some of the most competitive athletes, and they will all want to be the next superstar to usurp Wembanyama.
