Victor Wembanyama delivers bold statement after Spurs' latest victory vs. Heat image

The San Antonio Spurs' 5-0 start to the 2025-26 season is their best in franchise history, and their early MVP candidate Victor Wembanyama has dominated throughout the beginning of the campaign.

San Antonio's most recent 107-101 victory over Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat on Thursday night did not come easily, as Adebayo poured in 31 points and 10 rebounds while also adding a posterizing dunk over the generational shot-blocker Wembanyama to his highlight reel.

The Spurs' 7-foot-5 big man responded with 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots to help his team pull away in the final minutes, but he could not escape questions about the major slam post-game.

In response to a question of whether getting dunked on bothers the All-Star or not, Wembanyama shared a confident message.

"Until I'm getting dunked on more than I'm blocking shots, I'm going to keep going," Wembanyama told Spurs beat reporter Jeff McDonald on Thursday night.

"But none of us will live to (see) that day."

In reality, Wembanyama's claim can be backed up by his absurd ability to defend the basket and come away with emphatic rejections.

Through his first five games of the 2025-26 season, the 21-year-old center is averaging a ridiculous 4.8 blocks.

Wembanyama's length and agility makes him a first-of-his-kind rim-deterrent, and he shows why that kind of designation is justified on a nightly basis.

As a result, it could rightfully be agreed upon that there's little to no chance that the towering French center will be on the wrong side of poster dunk attempts that come his way more often than not.
