Despite being underdogs, the San Antonio Spurs waltzed into Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night and secured a 132-119 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stephon Castle was the star of the show for the Victor Wembanyama-led Western Conference, as he finished the contest with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists while shooting 71.4% from the field.

Castle’s outstanding mid-week performance resulted in a historic feat.

“Stephon Castle passes Magic (Johnson) as the youngest guard ever to record 30/10/5 on 70% field goal shooting,” Real Sports stated on X/Twitter.

Castle deserves his share of credit for helping the Spurs stay afloat while Wembanyama recovers from his calf injury (he’s near a return).

While the UConn product’s three-point shooting still leaves a lot to be desired (he shot 28.5% from beyond the arc last year and is currently shooting 25% from deep this season), he does several things well on the offensive end.

Whether playing off two feet in the paint before making the most logical read, operating the pick-and-roll to perfection, or making himself useful as an off-ball threat, Castle continues to make positive strides in a San Antonio uniform.

Castle is contributing 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds in 14 games with the Spurs in Year 2.

It's safe to say the future is bright for the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
