San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox led the team after Christmas while dealing with adductor tightness.
It was his first missed game in December, and the Spurs struggled to adjust to his absence. San Antonio's five-game winning streak was snapped after losing to the Utah Jazz on Saturday with a final score of 127-114.
Fox shouldn't be missing very much more time, if any, after recent reports.
Mitch Johnson speaks on De'Aaron Fox injury ahead of Dec. 29 vs. Cavaliers
While the Spurs look to get back on track on Monday, they take on a struggling Cleveland Cavaliers team.
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson spoke on De'Aaron Fox's injury.
"Not too many big concerns," Johsnon said, according to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. "Obviously, he's out, so it's real. But hopefully it will be short term."
Matt Guzman of SI.com mentioned that Fox was at shootaround on Monday and the team is "hopeful" he will receive a green light against the Cavaliers.
This is a positive update as Fox skipped out on Saturday's shootaround ahead of their game that day. He was not only dealing with the adductor tightness, but also picked up an illness as well, Guzman said.
If Fox is good to go, expect Julian Champagnie to move back to a bench role.
Through 22 games this season, the 28-year-old is averaging 21.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 48.2% from the field and is on pace for a career-high in three-point percentage at 39.4%.
