The San Antonio Spurs have a bright future with Victor Wembanyama as the face of the franchise. Meanwhile, the future of 40-year-old NBA veteran Chris Paul remains unclear after he spent this past season in San Antonio.
After the NBA season ended, Paul told Marc Spears that he was "going to keep playing, I think."
On Thursday, Paul hopped on The Pat McAfee Show and spoke again about his future, but it appears his stance has changed a bit.
"It's with my family more than anything," Paul said in regards to the retirement plans. "I don't think I want to play for a while while. I want to be dad. I still love to play...I want to hoop, but at the same time I kind of want to be dad."
"I still love to play basketball and I'm in the gym every day..

Paul says he still loves basketball, but being away from his kids for the past six seasons has been something to adjust to.
Paul was the No. 4 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, so he has been around the league for two decades. He is a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA nominee, and has made the NBA All-Defense team nine times.
Paul's last three seasons have been with the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and the Spurs, so he has bounced around quite a bit but has still been a valuable asset to teams even if he is past his prime.
Still, it remains to be seen what Paul decides for his NBA future, but the latest comments sure make it sound like he is considering calling it a career and transitioning to being a full-time dad.
