Russell Westbrook was moved into the starting lineup for the Sacramento Kings on Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves and he made some NBA history in the contest. Westbrook joined his former teammate, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, as just the second player ever to record over 25,000 points and 10,000 assists in his career.

This particular piece of history is a testament to the longevity of both guys. Both Westbrook and James have been extremely productive players for a very long time, and both players have always taken pride in getting their teammates involved, as well as putting up points. James began his NBA career in 2003, while Westbrook was drafted in 2008.

On Friday night, Westbrook also became just the eighth player in NBA history to tally 10,000 career assists. The other seven are all legends: John Stockton, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, LeBron, Steve Nash, Mark Jackson and Magic Johnson.

Unfortunately for Westbrook, his history came in a losing effort, as the Kings lost to the Timberwolves, 124-110, to drop to 3-10 on the season.

It's been a rough start to the season for the Kings, but Westbrook has been a bright spot. The former league MVP is averaging 14.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists in his first season in Sacramento.
