The Sacramento Kings are having an unsatisfactory season, having a record of 8-29 while being the second-worst team in the Western Conference. Not only that, the franchise has been plagued by injuries. Their star player, Domantas Sabonis, has been out with a knee injury and hasn’t played since November 16th. He’s expected to return on January 18th, but the bad news doesn’t stop there.

Keegan Murray will miss more time

The Kings announced Keegan Murray will be out for three more weeks after suffering a left ankle sprain against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 4th. Murray was absent for the beginning of the season due to a UCL tear. He returned to debut on November 20th in a losing effort against the Memphis Grizzlies

In the 19 games Keegan Murray played this season, he’s averaging 14.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks while playing 36 minutes per game. The Sacramento Kings have made it clear that they look to keep Murray as one of their cornerstones for the future. So with his current setback, the franchise will do everything to provide him with the proper medical treatment to get him back on the court once again.

Murray is expected to return next month, on February 4th. However, that is likely to change if they believe he isn’t ready to step on the court or isn’t game-shape conditioned. Either way, Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan will have to continue to work together if they want to lead this franchise into the future.

It seems likely the Kings’ upper management will settle into the rebuilding era and trade players away, but rest assured, Keegan Murray is here to stay for the long run.
