The Phoenix Suns have been one of the best stories of the 2025-26 NBA season. Despite a stunning loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Cup, the team remains competitive in a loaded Western Conference, with a 14-11 record.

Despite the strong start, the team is exploring ways to add talent to the roster as the season progresses.

Suns Targeting Sabonis

According to The Athletic's NBA Insider Sam Amick, the Suns are one of three teams linked to Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis.

"For Sabonis' part, league sources say the 29-year-old big man has heeded that call for patience. His contract runs through the 2027-28 season, with a combined $94 million owed in the next two seasons, meaning his market is inevitably limited by the sheer magnitude of the money owed," Sabonis wrote via the Athletic.

Amick adds that teams like the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls have also shown interest in acquiring Sabonis.

"Teams like Washington, the Phoenix Suns, and Chicago have shown significant interest in the past and are still believed to be on his short list of possible suitors, but Sabonis is prepared to remain in a Kings jersey for the foreseeable future. He has been out since Nov. 19 with a partial tear of his left meniscus and was scheduled to be re-evaluated within the next week."

More NBA:Concern rises for Devin Booker as Suns superstar continues absence

Obtaining an All-Star big man like Sabonis would be a pipe dream for the Suns, considering the team lacks the necessary draft capital and young pieces.

Still, it's easy to see why a star like Sabonis would be on the Suns' radar.

Currently, he is averaging 17.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season, continuing to establish himself as one of the most dynamic big men in the league thanks to his low-post prowess and elite passing.

The Suns already have former Charlotte Hornet big man Mark Williams, and Sabonis would be a seamless fit next to Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks.
