So, what? People can't have fun anymore?
Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green was dealt a hefty $25,000 fine by the NBA for using profanity in a since-gone-viral postgame interview following their win against the Washington Wizards on Monday.
The injured Green and Jordan Goodwin first crashed the ceremonial interview with screams. Green then exclaimed, "They can't f*** with you," which aptly led to Gillespie's response of, "Oh my God, on live TV bro?"
Green followed with, "I don't care."
While the fun was had on Monday night, the league handed the 23-year-old the fine on Tuesday afternoon, citing, "Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has been fined $25,000 for using profanity when interrupting a teammate's live television interview. It was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.
"Green made his comments during an on-court interview at the conclusion of the Suns' 115-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on Jan. 29 at Capital One Arena."
Gillespie then had his postgame interview crashed by Dillon Brooks, who approached with loud barks and called Gillespie "Mr. Consistent."
Green's turbulent season
Green has played in just two games for Phoenix this season, remaining out since early November with a right hamstring strain. In his first and only full game with the Suns, he erupted for 29 points on 6-for-13 on 3-pointers and 4-for-7 on 2-pointers in a 115-102 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. He exited the next game after playing just six minutes.
The former Houston Rockets guard was the key figure in Phoenix's offseason trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Rockets for Green, Brooks and the draft picks that turned into Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea.
While Green hasn't been able to see the floor, Brooks has risen as a prominent offensive staple in the Suns' otherwise lackluster scoring attack, what with Green, a scoring force in his own right, missing all but two games this season.
The Suns under first-year head coach Jordan Ott are one of the biggest surprises of the season, sitting at 7th in the Western Conference with a 19-13 record.
