The Phoenix Suns continue to build momentum after winning seven of their past eight games, including Friday night’s dramatic comeback victory. But that strong stretch will be tested immediately as Phoenix enters a challenging back-to-back set. The Suns will host the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday before turning around to face the Houston Rockets on Monday. Both opponents sit just ahead of Phoenix in the Western Conference standings, with San Antonio in fourth and Houston in fifth. The Suns enter the two-game slate at 10–6, holding sixth place.
Phoenix, however, will once again be shorthanded in the backcourt. Starting guards Jalen Green and Grayson Allen have both been ruled out. Green will miss his 15th game due to a lingering hamstring injury, and there has been no clear indication of when he will be able to return. Allen, who was originally listed as day-to-day with a right quad contusion last week, is now set to miss his fourth consecutive contest. Rookie second-round pick Rasheer Fleming has been upgraded to questionable with a right ankle sprain. Additionally, forward Ryan Dunn was added to the injury report with a right wrist sprain but also remains questionable to play.
The Spurs, meanwhile, are dealing with significant injury issues of their own. San Antonio will be without recent No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper, as well as young stars Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. Backup point guard Jordan McLaughlin has also been ruled out.
Following their two-game home set, the Suns will head back on the road, visiting the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday and the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
