It's been known for quite some time that Kevin Durant would be traded this offseason.
During the regular season, there was some tension in Phoenix, but for Durant it was too late in the season to be traded.
With the Suns mutually agreeing with Durant that they'd survey his value with potential trade partners, the team's asking price has been revealed.

What is the asking price in a KD trade?
ESPN's Brian Windhorst revealed on NBA Today the shocking return that Phoenix expects for Durant.
He said that the Suns want a return similar to what they had to give up for Durant when they acquired him from the Nets.
For reference, the Suns traded away Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and several first-round picks.

KD was 34 at the time of the trade, but will now be 37 and on the last year of his contract going into the 2025-26 season.
Winhorst expanded and said the comparable package that Phoenix is searching for in return is "impact players and multiple draft assets."
I don't think any team would trade the package Phoenix gave up for KD in 2023, in 2025 with what has changed.

Durant definitely has value, but it's certainly a big risk to give up your future if you're a team with interest, as there's uncertainty about Durant's future beyond next season.
This sort of situation happened with Jimmy Butler a few months ago, as teams didn't want to trade for someone with an expiring contract who was already an older player.
