Report: Suns, Raptors discussed trade involving Phoenix center image

Trade rumors are buzzing throughout the NBA. Several teams have emerged during these talks.

Word has spread, and it appears that the Phoenix Suns have gained some interest that involves center Nick Richards.

According to HoopHype's Michael Scotto, the Toronto Raptors are in search of a backup center. The team reached out to the Phoenix Suns for a trade involving Nick Richard.

Upon further reports, Scotto mentioned that the Raptors offered guard Ochai Agbaji and second-round draft pick compensation in exchange for Richards.

Agbaji wasn't in the Suns' best interest, as they are looking for an upgrade at the power forward position, league sources have said.

Richards, 28, has been given a reduced role in the Suns' rotation after the team added Mark Williams in a trade on the night of the 2025 NBA Draft, and has given 2024 second-round draft pick Oso Ighodaro a minutes increase.

In 24 games this season (two starts), Richards is averaging just 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds on 9.4 minutes per game.

Ogbaji is in a similar spot with the Raptors. After drawing 45 starts while averaging 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists on 27.2 minutes per game last season, his numbers have shrunk to just 3.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game in 2025-26.

The deal fell through, and both the Suns and Raptors will go their separate ways in finding new trade partners.
