The Phoenix Suns' four-game winning streak was snapped on New Year's Eve, as the Cleveland Cavaliers dominated them from start to finish.
Cleveland opened the game outscoring the Suns 37-21 and led by as much as 20 points in the first half.
That said, the Suns showed tenacity in the second half, going on a 24-5 run to cut Cleveland's lead to just two points.
Despite a combined 52 points from Devin Booker and Collin Gillespie, ultimately Cleveland pulled away in the fourth and earned a 16-point victory.
Following the game, head coach Jordan Ott recognized the beginning of the game as an "onslaught". However, he was happy with how his team responded.
Ott also went on to praise Jordan Goodwin, who had a milestone performance off the bench. Despite shooting 1-for-11, Goodwin grabbed 15 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive glass. His 15 total boards marked a Suns' franchise record for most rebounds off the bench by a guard.
When speaking about Goodwin, Ott said this: "His juice, his energy is contagious. We needed it. We needed all of it."
Now, having concluded a four-game road trip, the Suns will return home and turn their attention to the Sacramento Kings, their opponent for Friday's game.
The Kings make for a much easier matchup, currently holding the second-worst record in the Western Conference and the second lowest point differential (-11.3 per game) in the league.
