The Phoenix Suns entered Monday night searching for answers after recent injuries reshaped their rotation, including the loss of guard Jalen Green. In need of a reliable secondary scorer behind Devin Booker, the Suns found far more than they expected — and Grayson Allen delivered one of the best performances of his career.

Allen exploded for a career-high 42 points in Phoenix’s dominant win over the New Orleans Pelicans, becoming the only Suns player to reach the 20-point mark. Despite just four players finishing in double figures, Allen’s offensive outburst proved more than enough to carry Phoenix to a comfortable blowout victory.

His performance was defined by exceptional efficiency. Allen shot 12-for-17 from the field (70.6%) and knocked down an astounding 10 three-pointers on 15 attempts. He supplemented his shooting barrage with four assists, two rebounds and three steals, showcasing a complete all-around effort on both ends of the floor.

This was not Allen’s first 40-point outing. His previous career high came in 2019 as a member of the Utah Jazz, when he scored 40 points in an overtime loss. That effort required 30 shot attempts, making Monday’s performance — produced on nearly half the shots — even more remarkable. Aside from those two games, Allen has never scored more than 32 points in an NBA contest.

While the Suns cannot realistically expect this level of production from Allen every night, his breakout performance offers welcome relief as the team navigates Green’s absence. Phoenix, now riding a three-game winning streak, will look to build on its momentum as it heads to Dallas to face the Mavericks on Wednesday.
