Philadelphia 76ers star rookie V.J. Edgecombe threw down probably the best dunk of his young career against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.
In the third quarter of the contest, Edgecombe received a pass at the top of the key, drove the lane and rose up for a vicious and-one throwdown over Pacers center Tony Bradley.

It was an awesome play that led to an obvious question after the game: Would Edgecombe consider participating in the annual NBA Dunk Contest this year?
The Sixers' star's answer to that question is likely to disappoint some people.
"Yeah, I ain't doing it," Edgecombe said of the dunk contest. "I'm good."
VJ Edgecombe says he would DECLINE to be in the dunk contest if asked. 😲

Unfortunately, this seems to be the prevailing sentiment among young players in the league today – they simply don’t care about the once-revered dunk contest.
When asked a similar question earlier this month, fellow star rookie Cooper Flagg of the Dallas Mavericks also cast doubt on his dunk contest participation, though he didn't rule out the possibility entirely.
“See, I don’t know if I can really compete. I’m more of an in-game dunker,” Flagg said. “So never say never, but I don’t know if I can really compete.”
While it would be very cool to see either Flagg and/or Edgecombe show off their stuff in the dunk contest, it doesn't sound like we should hold our breath.
